they don't ripen all at once. a couple of pods open each day for several weeks. you have to watch it closely. the pods will swell and turn white just before they opn. if you tap them they will often drop pollen thru the cracks in the skin before they even open. this would be the best time to pluck them. i go thru each day with tweezers and pluck off pods as they swell and open. i will do this for 2 to 3 weeks. until i get the pollen i need.

i have an outdoor male pollinating some fems its the best male i have ever used to breed with its an p.urkel/w.widow hybrid f-1. it has so many pods that it simply looks like huge yellow buds when viewed from a distance and when i shake it a visible cloud of pollen forms i should get hundreds of seeds easy this time of some cool crosses.

Thanks for the tips guys. Today a few of the pollen sacs were half way open so i cut them off and shook the pollen off of them into a little plastic cup. I also pollinated the female clone I have and a lower branch of my main girl. I took a small brush and softly dabbed the little hairs coming out from the top. The buds are small and only 2 weeks old so I'm not sure if I did it right but hopefully it turns out well. This was probably answered but will someone tell me what happens after the bud gets pollinated? I've heard something about the pistils turning brown real fast and dying or something??

they will shrivel up and die. then the calyx will slowly start to swell. could take a week or 2 before you notice any change in the pod. the hairs dry up within a few days though.

For the record, you don't need to touch the female at all, merely tap pollen above her pistils..

I hear all the time that CA's weather is great for outdoor growing, yet indoor growers always say to keep the temps down. What I don't get is how the outdoor heat is so good, but indoor heat is bad. I'll be growing a few plants outdoors next year, but my indoor setup is much cooler than my yard; so this is a tad confusing to me. Am I stressing a bit too much about the heat? It hasn't gotten above 85F in my grow space in over a month, and usually stays below 80F; but it's been hitting 95-100F (or higher!) in my area. Any CA growers got a take on this? (Especially So. CA.)

On topic, I'm fairly sure my NL is a male. If so, I'll be doing some pollen collecting in a few weeks or so. I'm really looking forward to growing my own seeds!

yes heat effects quality but the lumens and complete spectrum outdoors seem to balance everything out besides if you veg on 18 or 24 hour light cycles you can flower plants in socal year round when its in the seventies in winter. so far this summer has been mild anything much over 90 does slow growth as the plants using most of its energy transpiring water.

Has anybody ever pollinated a lowrider plant? I have 2 lowrider plants that just showed their sex yesterday. One is a female plant and the other is a male plant and they are both in the same pot (no pun intended). Their roots have grown together and there is no separating them. I want to get some seeds but im not sure the best approach.
