Hi all. I'm new to rollitup but not growing. I am experiencing something with my plants that I've never had happen before.
I have been growing an indica/sativa hybrid for many years, saving seeds and backcrossing with earlier generations very faithfully. In the last few years I've noticed that my plants are going into flowering earlier even though the days are longer than 15 hours. These are outdoor plants started indoors (about 14 weeks old at the first flowering) This year things are really wierd. About 2/3's of my plants have begun to flower at the 5-leaf stage and only 8 weeks old. They get 16 hours of light a day (under fluorescent grow lights which is where I start my plants before setting them outdoors) and 8 hours of darkness. The majority of the plants are male (these usually show flowers earlier than females anyway). None are hermaphroditic and I have never had any mixed sex plants with this strain. Soil, nutrient suppliments, temperatures, container sizes have not changed just the flowering schedule of the plants. Does anyone know why this might be happening? |
