Ok I have a lot of plants in a small area, and someone suggested maybe try SOG. I am just starting to flower, my question, what if I spot a hermie when its grown into the screen? This is my only concern, or am I not supposed to place the screen over the plants until I know positively my plants are females? + REP For intellegent answers

Sexing first, would be the intelligent choice in my opinion.
SOG is not SCROG. They are two different techniques. SOG (Sea Of Green) is when you are filling an area with plants in order to grow a uniform plain (Sea) of "untrained" plants. SCROG (Screen of Green) is training plants to grow across a screen or to fill up a screen in a manor that creates the plain at a predetermined height.

The idea behind these methods is simple. (Equal amount of light to each plant or bud site)
A light (artificial or not) produces X amount of lumens. The plants surface area (leaf surface) is what catches the light in order to produce photosynthesis. The surface area of a plant is determined by the structure of the plants shape and height relative to other parts of the same plant. For instance: A Christmas tree shaped plant (Evolutionary traits of a sativa) will have a surface area in the shape of an upside-down V. The top of the plant being the area that receives the most light; giving the "Top Cola" effect. A dome shaped plants surface area is much broader, and designed to catch more light (evolutionary traits of an indica).
If the light being used is rated for say 4 square meters, it would be beneficial to fill the area completely with in that space, in order to benefit from all usable light produced.
This can be done with SOG by filling the area with as many plants as fit, or by SCROG; filling the usable growing surface area with foliar growth no matter how many root systems there are.

SCROG is advancement from the earlier method of SOG. This method was developed in order to allow even growth and equal opportunity for every bud site. (No bigger buds on top, little ones inside and on bottom)
It is also advancement for those who are subject to laws that pertain to the number of plants grown.

P.S. If you decide to SCROG, the idea is to fill the surface area with your plant. That means you would be best off filling the majority of the screen before you flower. Once you create a canopy of growth across the screen, everything below can be harvested (no longer receiving light) and you allow all of the plants energy to be spent on growth above the screen.
