Hi all, just a question if any people have noticed growth speed up using a certain ph.
I'm growing in a dwc res, i kept ph at exactly 5.5 from seed, i checked every day so the ph was never .1 over. Then i got lazy for a few days and kept it at 5.8,the growth incredable and my plant looked a lot healthier, Has anyone else found this? |

I think most people will tell you 5.8 is optimum for hydro. I THINK its like 6.8 for soil. I keep mine at 5.8 if its at 6.0 i might not mess with it..

I like to start with a nice low ph (about 5.5) and gradually let it rise until it gets to 6.4, by then it's time for a fresh reservoir. Different nutrients have optimal uptake at different ph. My thinking is that as the plant moves through the ph range it gets to absorb the full range of nutrients.
The chart I've attached explains it better. |

![]() As psychopassive so elequently put it, different nutrients are taken up within different ph ranges. By letting your PH 'drift' from 5.5 to about 6.5 you're covering all of your bases and practically ensuring healthy, deficiency free plants.

I have found plants to be quiet tolerant to different PH levels. My bro has never even used a PH meter before and he has never had any problems with his trees.

Natural pH drift encourages better growth. Keeping a hard-line pH level will actually limit your nutrient intake in a DWC system. I prefer to start about 5.8, let drift to about 6.5, then bring it back down, repeat.
