I've been experimenting with root stim on my last batch in veg. every second feeding I added a very small amount of root stim, with great results in veg , very vigorous growth . but 2 weeks into flower it was a total sausage fest. I remember reading that root stim was beneficial, Is it possible that it caused a higher male ratio ? anybody else experience this? Or just a bad batch of seeds?any in-put appreciated.

I use house and garden root stimulator and have had about 50% male. Doesn't seem to give me that problem.

seed sex is determined at development nothing can make a seed more male. getting fems is all luck based.

studies with weed say otherwise. in weed it seems it's more like a line and at either end are "true" males and "true" females, but there are lots in the middle that will hermie and some that will do a complete reversal given enough time. Some things that seem to cause more males are not enough root space and early fert high in P (or maybe it was K).

in personal experience it just seems the better you treat them the more likely they will be a girl.

while that may be true to an extent the seed is still given a sex at development and there is no way to fully root out that said sex.

marijuana botany by Clark and either of the mel frank grow books have stats. One of those frank books was co-authored by Ed Rosenthall. I think Jose cervantes in his books too, but I have to admit I haven't had one of his books on hand in like 15 years...and I smoke a lot of weed. JUst do a google search and you'll probably find some stuff....I've seen exerpts from the frank/rosenthall book on the web lots of times uncredited.

that roots excelurator is some very good stuff! a bit pricey, but worth it. i doubt if the root additive the op used caused any sausages, maybe if it wasn't used correctly....
