For the budding cycle do you have to 12 hours of light and 12 of dark. Can it be 6 hours of light then 12 hours of dark and then 6 hours of light ect? I was told they only use the first 6 hours of light during flower.

Kinda... The plant reacts tto the 12 hours of dark and produces flowering hormones.. Technically you could have any ammount of light u want but so far the best tested method is regular 12/12... And im certain the plant can use more than 6 hours during flowering.. Anything less than 12 is denying your plants full potential

Lol, that's the same as 12/12, because the two 6 hours end up being back to back.

i've read that thc production increases during the dark period, so what would happen if you ran an odd cycle like 12 hours light and 14 hours darkness for the whole flowering period

It may be beneficial but only slightly.. i had mine on 13 hours of dark and didnt notice a difference... Another thing is ull need a more expensive timer.. The standard 24hr light timers well.....only have 24 hours. Its always good to experiment but the big growers and seed producers have used 12/12 for years so i would say its best.... Alot of people actually increase the light period in the last 2 weeks of flowering to boost trich production.

indicas usually take 8-9 weeks and sativas 10-14weeks from start of 12/12 to finish. if you only have 9 weeks, then you should just go 12/12 from seedling on.

you can do 6 and 12 but not only will it bother the plants natural cycle it will def decrease yield, and thats about it i bet it wouldnt even make em finish faster...

but like at certain parts of plants development would it be beneficial to coax it into changing any aspect of its usual behavious either in reactions within the plant chemically, or changes in appearance, hieght,, fluffyness / stickyness etc............ i kno its a bit random but i think it could be played with
