Default LST important question
I was wondering, when i tie down my plant, do i have to tie the entire plant horizontally or can i just tie a bottom limb or middle limb to get it to grow fat colas on those limbs? i looked in the FAQ and couldn't find anything

you want to tie down any branches that arent getting light, so they receive more. If you tie the top nodes below the level of the rest of the plant, the growth hormones are redirected to the lower bud sites.

little correction, tie down the branches that are getting light so the bottom branches are at the same leel as the top ones. you can train any time and as much as you want. it is done as the plant is growing though so if you already have an establish sturdy stalk it is going to be hard to bend over. There are multiple ways to lst. you can bend over the top branch as soon as you can get it to make a full "U" without snapping the stalk. after a week or 2 tied in this position you will see the side growth go crazy (also trainable).

you can combine it with topping. i like to top to an 8 inch tall plant, let veg for another week or two then flower. then i Lst a lot in the following 2 weeks when there is a lot of stretching. as 1 branch takes the lead i tie it down. keeping the best 6-8 shoots. SCROGing really is another form of lst.

In any event the entire purpose of training the plant is to get more buds in a higher intensity area of light. keep that in mind when your bending the plant around...how can i get more bud sites as close to the light as possible?

I have seen this tutorial, and I have grown a shit load of plants using LST, but I have never tried this as it seems like a pain in the ass and I'm not sure how well it would work based on plant size. What size pot is used, and if you are doing this can you post a pic of it

I'm usin a 10inch pot, so far it has not been that hard to do. But im not going to tie the branches down like in the demo, I'm just gona let them do their thing.

I'm only on the second tie down right now but ill see if I can post a pic

well, you cant exactly tie the lower branches above the top cola. however, you can take off some of the lower flowers that are popcorn to get more weight directed to the top colas.
