Default turning the bud purp
So i put it in this thread because i wasn't too sure, but i suppose this is an advanced technique anywho.

Okay, so i had heard for a while through people that adding co2 would turn your bud purple at some point, but after researching this matter many people said it had to do with lowering the temp, without freezing the roots. others said that you put it in the freezer? that sounds whack to me haha, that would not work.
So could someone explain this process to me please? i can't find too much about it anywhere.

thanks so muchh,
and keep it lit

The cold temps cause the green chlorophyl to leave the leaves, bringing out other pigmets (purple). Not all plants will do this, which is why some strains are selected for this trait. I've experimented with it, but it's not a guarantee that you'll get what you want. I also wouldn't recommend freezing your plants to try this. Purple color may give you more bag appeal, but you don't want to put your plant in a stressful environment just to get some bag appeal. I'd much rather have a healthy plant that produces THC levels that I'm aiming for than to have some purple nugs just b/c they "look cool."

try this experiment
take a dry bud and get some purple food coloring
dilute the food coloring, and try painting your bud.
see what happens.

Ugh...that's not a good idea. I bought a bag from a guy a while back that was food colored, and it's horrible. It takes away the flavor, and causes the smoke to burn really quickly. You could hear the food coloring burning in the joint, made this annoying hissing sound. I never went back to that guy either...what a bunch of bullshit. Don't food color your weed, it's not worth it.

lowering the temp, stressing the plant isn't worth having shit weed that's purple in general.. so any method will give the same results.

Use purple spray paint.

Food coloring the weed will not give the same results. Purple weed that had temp drops during flower still tastes good (purp strains usually have distinct flavor), smokes good. Food coloring ruins the flavor, and causes it to burn quicker.

Out of all the purple threads that I have read, and out of the purple strains I have smoked.. you are the first person to say they taste good. congrats.

couldn't agree more.

If it's not in your plant's DNA why stress it?

Oh I don't mean to say purp strains taste better than oh say...Ak 47 or some Trainwreck. I just mean they still taste like good weed as opposed to food colored bullshit. But yes I personally love the flavor of some purple strains (grandaddy purp, purple kush). But by no means do I consider them to be the best.
