Default LST - Have i Killed it
G'day

At week 4.5 of my first lst, and first grow and have run into a problem.

I tied down 1 of the branches too tightly and based on the impression left in the branch, crushed it a bit.

The branch has shrivelled up and seems to be dying - however since removing the tie it does seem to have recovered a bit of colour and seems a bit more rigid in its limpness.

The rest of the plant seems to be doing fine except for the odd mini leaf thats drying up (i'm assuming from no light and being under the plant)

I was wondering if i've killed the branch? Should i chop it off or just leave it?
Will the branch recover?

Thanks People

It may recover nicely, time will tell. When I LST I use soft cotton twine. I tie a loop in the end of the string and then feed the twine around the branch and then back through the loop. This leaves a looser tie that can expand as the branch gets thicker. When anchoring down I anchor the main stem coming out of the medium loosely ( just so the LSTed branch does not pull the main stem from the growing medium) and then over a period of a few days I pull the LSTed branch down a little at a time. This is sometimes better done when the plants are young and the stems are soft and supple.

Here is what it looks like when it has been tied completely over. This is one I was training for a mother plant. From here I would train the branches in a circle around the pot keeping the height at about 6" max.

Thanks guys

Thats a load off my mind. I've just bought mini cable ties (i have 2 lids, 1 with holes so i can tie branches down onto bucket). I was using thin hemp string, but it was getting wet underneath from my bubber and was worried about the water coming to top and mold forming from constantly wet string (kinda) under lights.

Thanks again guys
Keep it green

Ok guys, hoping for another quick, positive response but am prepared for the worst.

I'm getting to the end stages of veg period. I had tied the main stem down at 3rd from top and 5th from top node. The stem started growing up at the 4th node and kinda snapped itself. I loosened the cable ties and thought it was all good, because for 2 days break didn't get bigger and plant continued to grow - everything on the plant, except other damages that i'm responsible, looks awesome nice and healthy green colour. So i topped the plant so that i could start allowing the plant to grow up and start scrogging.

I woke up this morning and the break point had gone to about the middle of the stem. The plant still looks awesome. I haven't had much growth at the top, but its still green and healthy looking.

I put cable ties on as much of the break as possible and pulled it together The stem is solid as so no matter how hard i try i can't get it all the way together.

I'm guessing based on the colour of the plant that i've probably just stalled main stem growth untill it can heal itself, and possibly risked hermying my baby.

So just wanted to know if i have the right of it, or whether it is actually fucked and it'll take a few days for it too fail.

Assuming it is all good, should i wait to feed it (next scheduled feeding is in 24hrs). Is there anything i should be putting on the break?

Help Please
Grinch

Well, you know what? I think you may have inadvertently sort-of-super-cropped your plant. If the branch is not broken off and the leaves around that "break" are not actually dying and falling off, you might have done just that.

I did LST and super cropping on my plant, and I actually broke the stem that I pinched too hard for the SC'ing. It's fine, loaded with buds. And I could actually see through the hole that I accidentally created.

How about some pictures? I love LST and scrogs and super cropping. I'm really new to it, so I'd love to see what this looks like.

Hey leilani

Yeah, i think i did supercrop it, kinda matches the descriptions of what it should look like.

I'm a bit paranoid of putting up photos from this account considering the penalties, so once i'm all finished i'll get a 'secure' connection and post up some photos for ya.

Thanks Again
