Default CO2 bottle method questions?!?!?
I'm thinking of adding some Co2 to my grow tent. 1.2 x 1.2 x 2m I've got a 4" fan exhausting out and a 6 inch fan in taking. I know ill need to knock these off when I fill the tent with Co2 but any one guide me on how long for?? I don't want to go overboard. the FAQ's don't really give much guidance on how often n how long.

I was thinking maybe 2 or 3 x 3Litre bottles.

how often should I be doing this ? once a week twice?? more???

any advice n guidance much appreciated !!

cheers

From what I've read, i 2l bottle per week will be enough.. Put fans on timer.. I think you have 2 many fans.. Mine is a 12fx6f room and i have 2x 115cfm exhaust fans, passive intake. I run those fans continually as it takes 2.5 min to exchange air.

exhaust fan is running constant and the intake is timed 12/12 with the light, i only added the intake fan as my temps were too high, ( 28-29C ) its now running 24-25C.

so do i just put a 2L bottle of made up yeast/sugar/water shake and let it sit there for a week ? surely if the fans running constantly then all the Co2 is going out the exhaust?

Depending on the cubic size of your room, not really as co2 rises any way.. Do the math, that will determine how often the air is exchanged. Imo you don't need the intake fans, passive will do fine. Since in equals out, then that's nor what dropped temps. Leave than fan holes covered with screeninmg as critters love young tender shoots..I know...sadly..My cat's love nibbling on them...No real damage or lost.Yes, leave bottle a week..

CO2 actually is heavier than air and tends to collect at the lower part of the room. When I am running CO2, I have it dispersed above the canopy and it falls down onto the plants.

the dude already said he needs the fans to keep temps down...so he needs the fan. this will cause your soil to dry faster though so you might need to water a little extra. i have the same issue. lots of exhaust to handle my temps. because, and the fact that i have relatively small pots, i add a large mason jar of plain water in b/w my feeding schedule.

that said, CO2 is heavier then air. it will fall until caught in wind. with the co2 bottles, i always attach a hose (fish tank bubble hose) to the lids of the bottles. i have some that attach to the fan blowing under the cannopy, and i have a couple positioned right in the middle of my plants.

dont over, do the sugar on the first couple days b/c the initial reaction can be intense and cause some overflow (pain to clean and yeast cant be good floating around in grow room)...leave some air at the top too, dont fill to brim. the bottles will last about a week. you can decant off the liquid, trying to save the yeast and add more sugar water. yeast should be fine. like every 3rd or 4th water switch i add more yeast (depending how much was bumped off). I have a 3 gallon attached to the fan, and maybe 3 or 4 2 L on top of the cannopy at all times.

cheers, and dont listen to the old guy

I also just started the bottle method, I put two gallon jugs in my room I tried to do passive intake but my temps got a little high, so I put the intake fan on a timer to run for two hours on/ two off. I figured that I have a bit more co2 than is needed but accounting for the extra that is being exhausted out. Since it is cheap to make, I figured I could add another bottle. I have been adding co2 for two weeks and have noticed a difference in the veg cycle.
