Default hempy bucket method
i have been growing in soil and have wanted to do a simple hydro setup that was low cost low maintenance. i came across the hempy bucket system and have purchased everything i need to start a hempy bucket style grow. people i have talked to who have used many methods really like the simplicity and results of this no brainer method it involves vermiculite perlite and buckets of whatever size you choose. i plan on starting 4 units in a couple weeks with some black domina cuts. i would like to get any input from anyone farmiliar with this style of grow thanks.

im not looking for "how to" that i know i wolud like feedback from people using this method and how they feel it holds up against more complicated systems.

Im trying hempy for 2 out of 6 of my first grow pots. It's awesome so far, very easy low maintenance and fool proof. Long as you put fresh water in the bottom each day so it doesn't get stagnant you are set.

Heres a week difference, I had to transfer them because the roots grew so much in the 1/2 gallons, now they are in 1 gallons and happier.

The only problem I had with the Hempy method is that I had to be around for the entire grow. In other words, unless you have an automative watering system, you can not leave for more then 3 days.

What greenisgold says is true, the little reservoir you create on the bottom will dry up in about 3 days or so. Smaller containers will need to be watered more frequently.

After a couple of botched soil grows I decided to try the hempy method, and my plants have been doing really well this time around. I'm about a week away from my next harvest and I'm looking forward to doing another, but I think I'll change a few things that may have affected the grow early on. First, I didn't start off in smaller containers as suggested by the other hempy growers. I started them off in those peat moss pucks and then just threw them into their pots when I thought they could stand up on their own. Hempy grows seem to be painfully slow until the roots hit the reservoir on the bottom of whatever container you're using, and my plants seemed to take their sweet time since their pots were so big to start.

Next, I'll try to follow the Lucas formula more faithfully. I've read on another forum somewhere that you could use Floranova bloom the entire grow by just feeding in different amounts- 5mL in veg. and 8mL in bloom per gallon. In my case, I've barely needed to fool with the pH at all using this particular nute. The thing is, it was supposedly written with RO water in mind. I've just been using pH neutral tap water, though I wonder if it really makes much of a difference.
