My question is, is there anyone renting C02 tanks from welding stores??

I want to rent a 20lb tank, I have a regulator, but I just want C02, not argon/c02 mix.

I dont know shit about welding, I just have heard that mig welders can use c02.


So if I go into a welding rental store, will I be able to rent a bottle of pure c02??

Yes just tell them your using it for your home brew no worries..Or you can do a goggle search and buy your own tank for under a hundred bucks.

Yes, the guys in the welding store are likely stoners. I had an old mig welding tank (argon/co2) and I brought it them and asked if they would swap it for a Co2 tank. They asked what I was using it for and I said "umm, umm, it sort of for an experiment bit I need a few cubic feet per day". I think the guy suspected I was using it for growing, anyhow he took the argon/co2 tank and gave me a Co2 tank. They want your buisness, no worries.

I called around and found a place that rents strait c02. They are not stoners, but I just said my uncle has an old mig and hes already got argon at home.

They couldnt care less, a rental is a rental.

I've always had kinda theory about that. For the off-hand equipment like co2, if they know what you are using it for they are probably the guy you want to trade clones with. but i would tell them you are building a kegerator. it will explain the mischievousness that he WILL be able to sense.

remember, it takes one to know one. but chances are hes the only guy in the store thats cool so be careful.

p.s. i dont condone any illegal activity, so dont break your local applicable laws, but i can tell you one thing... every restaurant in your town has co2 tanks laying around out back. they will probably just leave them outside, go there after hours.(again dont do anything illegal) look around by their break area, back door, or outdoor cooler. there may be coke painted on it and a serial number but thats no biggie.

what size tanks do people generally run?

kegerator is a fridge with a keg in it. usually with the spout sticking out of it. use the co2 so you dont have to pump it. the drunk college kids answer to a grow i guess...
