Default h202 Through rockwool
Im having a bug problem in my flood tray due to the moldy rockwool cubes and small 1 cell orginaism like bugs are all over the place when i flood the tray. Some people on RIU claim to drain the nutes out of the rez and run straight h20/h202 in the rez but my question is will it hurt the roots if i flood the tray also?

straight H2o2 through the cubes...that would probably have severe damage on the roots. I'd be more tempted to flood the tray with an insecticide...it will also hurt the roots, but wont have the severe effect as the very caustically bleaching effect of the h202.

I dont know where you're at with all this...but i'd be tempted to ditch everything, starting over with a CLEAN space, and some method which wont have a bunch of mold growing everywhere. But, if you're too far along to do that...I guess you have to try chemical means first. Good luck.

Depending on the strength of your h202 it will not hurt your plants roots... If you buy h202 from your grocery store it is most likely 3% h202... You can run that through the system as is with no real damage but i would not do this to clones that have not taken root yet... In any event i would mix it with water before applying to any root areas...

If you buy your h202 from the local hydo shop it is most likely VERY strong 35% or something like that... If you get it on your hands your skin will turn white and may be irritated for a short while... You will need to mix that with 10 units of water to 1 unit of h202 just to get the strength they sell at most stores... ~30% or more strength h202 is also called medical grade hydrogen peroxide... Be careful with it... =]

Ask your local hydro shop if they have any thing that is not harmful to your plants that can kill unwanted pests like the ones you have... You can always tell them you grow chilies if they ask... Most likely they will not...

If you are using 3% h202 you should be fine with that mixture...

You can read more about h202 here...
http://maximumyield.com/ask_erik_art...ueVar=November

As for a god percentage of h202 to water mixture there are some guidelines on here somewhere... Maybe the gro faq... Or try searching posts on h202/hydrogen peroxide and see what ppl recommend for a mixture concentration...

Again keep in mind weather you are starting off with 3% or 35% h202 it should be stated on the bottle label...

Good luck... =]

EDIT>>>
Here on this forum link below there is a good calculation for mixing h202...
http://www.gardenscure.com/420/hydro...xide-h2o2.html

For 3% H202 the calculation (metric because ml are easier then liq. oz) reads (10*1/3)....
It looks like you want 3ml (a little over 1/2 teaspoon) to one liter (about 4 liters per gallon)... That seems about right to me and i would go with 15-30ml (1-2 tablespoons) to one gallon...

If you are using 3% go with 30ml/gal
If you are using 7% go with 12ml/gal
If you are using 35% go with 2.5ml/gal
