Question Clone Problems
Anyone know why clones would not grow roots?
the clones are 2 weeks old
they were dipped in clonex
and stuck in rockwool ph'd to 5.5
they are in a humidity dome with pearlite
and a seedling heating mat under it
the leaves are fine
inside the rockwool there is little to no sign of root development
the cutting site is blackish in color
the stem is yellowed about half an inch up
i will post picks when i leave work

My question would be where did you take te clones from in terms of top, middle, or bottom of a mother?

Have you been watering them with water ph'd to 5.5 since you took the cuttings, that was my problem when I first started cloning.

Thumbs up Clone Problems
Firstly get rid of those 2 week old clones and start over.First make sure the bottom of prop only gets warm to the touch and not hot. Hot bottom of prop means not a one will survive but 5.5 soaking cubes is correct. It takes 4 days of veg with prop lid on ..... remove daily starting on day 2 for 5 minutes then day 3 for 10 min and day 4 for 30 min.On day 5 completely remove prop lid and keep it off 24 hrs a day (this will force rooting of clones if they have not already started rooting). Also on day 5 (when u take lid off prop for good) water clones with 5.8 ph'ed solution with a ec of 3-4 ppm and use a large eye dropper or something similar and water every 2 days till roots appear. This is a method that is gonna work at a 90 + % live rate guaranteed. Good Luck

I just got an aero cloner (daisy) and took some bottom cuttings off my white berry mom. They've been in there now for 10 days and are just starting to show the bumps on the bottom of the stem. Im not sure why its taking this long to root, I always understood bottom cuttings will root better than top ones. I was using clonex but I'll be using earth juice rootstock gel, all organic, for my cuttings from now on. My first few attempts at using oasis wedges werent that great but so far neither is the daisy cloner.

I use a clean razor blade and cut a few light slashes up the stem to give the clone additional areas to grow roots from. I've had better luck with mine since I started that.

sounds like air's got into ur stem one of 2 things
#1 recut above damaged or affected area
(anything yellow or black has to be removed including leaves, Do not remove whole leaves unless over 50% damaged)
#2 start again
sounds cruel but sometimes its best to cut ur losses as slow & lagging clones tend to never grow out of that trait
" at 1st my clone success rate was around 30% which was very poor so i took a wk out read & sourced every bit of infomation i could on rooting (like a crazed info whore) lol and so far my success rate stand's at 98/100 % & thats with no heating mat's no fancy cloner's or nutes/fertz, " there is no real victory with out struggle"

what i do is... once i take my cutting, i immediatly submerge the stem in a bowl of water. while the stem is submerged i cut the bottom part off at a 45 degree angle. this should help in preventing any air bubbles from getting trapped in there. then i take it out and scrape the bottom 1/2" to 1" with a sterile blade, and dip into Olivia's cloning gel. then pop them into peat pellets. i've had a 100% success rate with Olivia's, and i would never use anything else. and a few things to remember...
- with a pencil, make a hole in each peat pellet after it has been soaked in water. so
when you put the cutting in, all the gel doesnt slide off.
- make sure your peat pellets arent soaking wet.
- never dip cutting directly into the bottle of cloning gel. if you do i could conaminate
the rest of the bottle. pour some out into a separate bowl.
- one cutting per peat pellet
- and mist about 2-3 time a day with luke warm water
- and lastly... NEVER be imaptient and pull the cutting out of the peat pellets to see if
they have rooted. you'll know when they do. it usually takes about 4-7 days.
