DO NOT TAKE THIS AS GOSPEL!!! I'm on my 2nd grow, but read alot, and ask alot of questions. I would think that you could keep your males in another room. Collect the pollen into a jar lid, or similar container, and using either a Q-tip, or a "make-up" brush, transfer the pollen to your female. Be sure the male you use has qualities that you'd want in a female, or better still, try and "hermie" one of your girls. (that's what I am doing) They say that hermies produce hermies, 'course they also say that birth control pills will give you a female. I don't believe either. Somehow, some way, the cannabis gods smiled on me, and endowed me with several sacks that had seeds. Now, most folks would be pissed off, not me! The gods were just testing me. I collected the seeds and started growing. I started 8, and lo and behold, I got 8 females. I talked to the girl I get my herb from and found out that she's grown MANY seeds from her pot (Commercial grow from somewhere out west) and gotten all females as well. I now have 22 of them growing as my second grow, about a month old. Looking for 22 females this time as well. (I hope I DO get a male, but I aint counting on it.)
Near as we can figure, these seeds were the product of hermies pollinating the females. No other explanation.
MY question is how far does pollen travel? Can I carry it into my grow room on my clothes? I want to pollinate a female to get more seeds from this really nice strain.

Do not use feminizing techniques for breeding.. Feminized seeds should be grown for bud only unless circumstances demand compromise..
Step one is to pick the plants you want as parents, and simply get seeds.. Its the selection of these F1 offspring for trait selective back-breeding to the original parent (P1), and the subsequent repeats of this procedure on F2, F3 generations etc that will determine the stability of your strain.. So you have alot of time to read up before you get your F1 seed stock..
Also, how many plants can you maintain in your breeding program.. The more, the better as far as selection goes..
Read up on Mendel.. He's the father of our breeding strategy..
BC Growers - Cubing is a pretty basic primer on the subject..

I defer to the masters on this one. Born2kill, how would I do this if I do not get a male?

You could do the whole feminizing thing, but all the offspring will have to be closely watched to make certain you don't have hermie traits.

As far as the original question, flower the males in a seperate room, when the sacs are about to open, cut them off and kill the plant, let them dry, break them open, and paint the pollen on the bud in the 2-3 week of flower. This will be a stable cross, then save the pollen and do it again with the next seed generation, backcross.

Born2kill is the shit.

What is the result of a cross from a f3 parent and an f1 parent? Specifically Somango and Super Skunk. F2? Or f4?

If you must use feminized seeds then its far more important to consider stress tolerance as a trait of major concern.. Also polinate female1 with pollen from female2 to avoid a surge of undesirable recessive traits.. Remember recessive traits only express themselves a third as often as dominant traits.. That means that a garbage dominant trait is 3x as likely to express itself and impede performance, so evolution is going to be 3x as effective at weeding garbage dominant traits out as it will be at weeding garbage recessive traits..
Its my hypothesis that forced male flowers are more likely to undergo problems during cell division that can cause chromosomal abnormalities like translocations/deletions etc.. In humans these types of genetic problems produce conditions like sickle cell anemia, and many other things, although not all abnormailities cause problems..
Feminized seeds aren't only more likely to herm, but other mutations are also frequent..
Furthering my hypothesis, I believe that these chromosomal abnormalities cause internal stress making the plant more likely to herm.. This is why its crucial to select gene pools that are extremely resilient to stress.. Easy to herm genetics, coupled with extra internal complications is likely to compound into frequent problems..

Edit: 'My hypothesis' may be better defined as 'My wild fucking guess based on anecdotal reading'..

Depending on who you ask, it could be either.. Some may even say its an F1.. Naming conventions are actually really wishy-washy in this field, even in the scientific agricultural field.. I guess the only worthwhile thing to worry about is the result of the punnet squares..

Edit: http://www.onlinepot.org/grow/hybredplants.htm <- Gives a rundown on definition complications..

That's all hard to figure out... I already have 6 of them in juvenile stage, and they all look similar except 2, which look more sativa, I'm gonna figure it out the trial and error way, to see if I've got something.

Instead of describing more diverse gene pools, you could say, a self pollinated herm might turn out like a child from Kentucky

Forgot to mention my cross is a feminized cross...

Silver Pearl-
(Early PearlxNL5xSkunk)
Was the hermie donor from a light leak

Somango-
(Jack HererxSkunk)
Was the female who got pollenated, seed bearer.

Might be interesting, if one were to herm and pollinate my Super Skunk seeds from Sensi seedbank, They'll be another cross, and a bunch of murdered hermies. Hope the herm trait doesn't show, I went by the book and pollinated a resilient female with a forced hermie.

Didn't mean to hi-jack, it's just topical banter.
