But WHY would it have any effect? You can't get more canniboids out of the plant by turning it into origami... it just isn't possible. You can't get something from nothing, right? What would you be adding to or changing that would make the bud more potent in such a short time?

I think that you would actually be ripping up the pith and xylem and causing the osmosis process in the plant to stop (because you just killed it if air gets into the pith - same thing that kills clones) - which means even less growth.

Any difference you notice would probably be caused by the fact that if you shred the stem like that you are most certainly killing the plant - which means you are just drying it a little in the dirt first. Perhaps more drying time = nicer smoke, or maybe your friend wasn't drying long enough and killing the plant a few days early helps him out.
