The stem appears healthy and the one leaf is vibrant and strong in appearance to me. I am a little unclear on your intentions, do you want bud or just to plant it and see what happens? b/c if you would like the plant to produce then you need to look at getting Pest repelant products(Neem OIL,chicken wire, etc..) in my humble opinion if you do nothing at all and ignore the plant it wont make it in its current position.I am knew but from all I have learned this plant needs TLC and a bit of your sweat, then you are rewarded
