from what I've been reading you'll need 6 per plant. 3 overhead and the other 3 on the sides so the whole plant will get the light. They recommend 42w bulbs, 6500 for vegging then 2700 for flowering. So, yeah it's gonna run you close to $100 for all of your lights. I'm short on bucks so I'm getting my vegging CFL's first. Should run me between $50-60. When my plants are a couple weeks from flowering then I'll get my 2700's. Also, make sure your box is reflective, using mylar preferabbly and not aluminum foil. Keep the lights about an inch away from the plants. Again, this is all knowledge that I have gained from reading the posts here.
