I use whiney Farms and Perlite (2 to 1 more or less). add about a teaspoon of dolomite lime and extra boxed organic mixed fertilizer (1/8 cup) per gallon of mix. More fertilizer when potting into last stages. Boxed fertilizer contains: bone meal dried poultry waste,cottonseed meal etc. etc. etc. But most importantly it contains mycorrhizal fungi and bacteria to digest the food for my plants and make the soil a nice place to live. if I'm rich at the time I also add (one of the only things I add as much as the directions say) extra soil fungus. My hydro guy had a little bag i bought for about 5$. he wasn't way up on it, But soil microbes ROCK. I definitely see a difference when using it.

Fox Farms is pretty premo stuff I see the label and it adds up a little acidic to me. Check the threads at the beginning of "Organics". Some good soil mixes in there, cheaper than mine and Fox farms. Saving money good.

Two things I do that I don't see mentioned a lot;
Dolomite lime-sparingly
Soil Fungus (I think I'll start a religion)

Both my method and Fox farms (If I was using fox perlite would need to be added) are pretty expensive. I'm going to read up and see what the wise young people of rollitup have to say (stickys) before I invest in my next soil batch.
