Carbon filtering for a box like that can be as simple as buying a 'cut to fit carbon filter, about $9.00 at Menards and fitting it over your holes. I put it over all of the intake and out flow when I built mine. The filter is 48" by 16", even covering the basket for the muffin fan I used it only took one filter.
