Unless it's auto-flowering, most plants WON'T start to show there sex untill there 2months of age...even IF you let it grow for a month then start to flower...you will still be waiting a few weeks for it to show sex. Best thing to do is let your plant mature to age and when it shows sex THEN put it into flowering. If space is an issue, top it and then LST for even more branch growth.
