depends on how you like to grow. i would rater have like 25 3 gallon pots or even 5 gallon. somtimes its better to have a bunch of small plants, if you dont mind the smaller yield.. but you will get quicker harvests. but 1 gallon should be ok.

just remember plants will grow to fit a big pot.. and so will the plants yield..
