Reliable sages on the boards have stated that a speedster is an overpriced rheostat [router speed controller] Available from harbor freight for $10, Speedster is what $30-$40? I am no electrician, Hell on a technicality I suppose everything i do is "Nigger Rigged", but i guess they both work the same way. They interrupt the current and turn it into an pulsing 120volt current instead of a constant one. The speed is regulated by adjusting the speed/timing of pulses, whereas a dimmer switch just reduces voltages [and starts fires if ya hook it to a fan] Heres a link,
