medicineman, I don't know when we have ever been closer to a total agreement on anything. I used to work down there several times a year. Almost every week the local rags had impending doom articles. So did National Geographic, I believe Time and Popular Mech as well. It was simple physics. New Orleans on a good day is 4 feet below sea level. Most hurricanes have a 12 foot ocean rise. That equals -16 feet through-out town. My problem with Naomi is she was throwing partisan mud instead of focusing on a bilateral process of political failure. Also, she rants on the schools. Sad thing about the schools, is they really sucked before Katrina. That whore-monger made it sound like they were perfect and Bush and his buddies done them in. I have no idea what education is like now. I doubt it could be any worse than it had been.

Oh, by the way, class warfare? You might have the basis for a legitimate argument here. It was an extremely dysfunctional economy. But, let us be blunt, if poor black people keep voting dog-shit into office, because it is democratic and not lily-white, the disaffection will continue. And this disfunction creates defacto apartide. Macro-econ 102.

p.s. Oh, one last thing "pre-catastrophy ignorance by all administrations", there was no ignorance. The dirty bastards were just playing possum with the press.
