yea I think HTG had a digital 400W ballast that would switch on its own... but it was like an extra 100... so you could buy a MH light from them for about 120... so I think that would be better. because eventualy you can use them both at the same time.
MH are supost to be better for vegging because they have a diferent light spectrem. they emit more blue light than HPS. and plants like blue when their vegging. and HPS has more red. and flowering plants like red... I would think by puting a slitly colored piece of plastic infront of it... things might work out o.k.... or teribly !!!!!!! I have no idea...
I just bought the HPS because I'm vegging in another area with CFL's... I know they suck but their small cheap and they get the job done pretty well for vegging.
