The only thing you really want to do is try and have a balance between green product (fresh grass clippings, fruits, veggies,) and brown product (brown leaves, shredded paper, coffee filter etc)

Nature will do the rest. don't get too caught up on composting. It will happen no matter what and nature will balance the equation.
