How long did you shake? the more you shake the more the leaf crumbles and will fall through, sounds like that is what's happening to you, should have no problems if you are using 100% cotton shirt, check your shirt under a light to see if there are any abnormal size holes, also try using less weight say half a buck and or double up your shirt.
