Default Humidity too high
Hi All,

I have a little problem with Humidity. Here is what is going on.

I am growing some Dynamite, which is a 50 - 55 day flowering strain. I am on the sixth week of flowering running two homemade tote systems and a tray, all with drip setups.
I am going with the lucas formula of fertilizing. They are going wild with growth. The problem is the humidity is a tad too high.

When my wife comes home an night she smells a hint of skunk. There is no odor during the day, 6 am - 6 pm, because I have the lights off during that time. I go to bed about 11 pm and smell no odor then, but by the time she gets home at 2 am, she can smell it, though barely.

I made a carbon filter which worked for a while, but when I use it now, the temperature of the room goes up to 85+ and the humidity goes up to 75% +. The filter slows the rate of exaust to the point that the room builds up excess heat and humidity. If I go and remove the filter, the humidity and temperature instantly drop. 65% humidity and 75-80 degrees, and the odor disappears upstairs. Every day they seem to grow faster and faster and the humidity keeps inching up. I can find an alternative means of dealing with the odor, which is going out the chimney.

The further I get into flowering, the higher the humidity climbs. I am topping off five gallons a day. This is with only eight plants.

My exhaust fan is 265 cfm. The room is about 8' by 6'. I have two fans running, a box fan that pushes a lot of air and an oscillating fan blowing over the canopy. I do not have any inline fans pushing air into the room. The air intake is a little hole on one corner of the room, that is it. I do have a small blower and dryer hose which I could use to blow fresh air into the room.

I do not want mold problems. If I can't get the humidity down much, how can I avoid mold?

I will begin flushing in about a week, do they transpire less while in the final flushing stage or does humidity remain constant?

The 'problem' seems to be that I have them dialed in perfectly. They are in very rapid calyx formation right now. The growth is explosive and seems to be accelerating. I suspect that I have another week or so of rapid calyx formation so I don't want to turn down the PPM. WOuld turning down the PPM a bit slow the transpiration? i am at wits end on how to deal with this problem.

I dread having a mold problem.

Suggestions?
