Is it too late to worry about topping?
When they do start to flower are there lots of the little female preflowers all of a sudden or does it come on slowly?
As a rule, do Indicas or Sativas flower earlier or later than one another? I know Sativas take longer to ripen.

in my experience, sativas start sooner, indicas later. indicas seem to tolerate cold better too...
if you're going to top, i'd do it as soon as possible...
when they start to flower, you'll begin to notice small clusters of hairs at the tops. then there will be more and more and more.....
