could maybe have a look into going dwc/bubbleponics, this option is going to cost you less.

net pots are about 1 dollar each, cheaper than the big pots you need

clay pebbles, use less of these in the smaller pots, a single bag will do many pots,

You could get larger rubbermaids for the res,
