Exclamation Vegging seed plants and clones

Hey,... you guys seem to be having trouble with the veg time calculation.

In indoor growing, it's like one of those zen conundrums.

You have to understand the difference between seed plants and clones.
When we say veg for 2 weeks, we're talking about using clones -- Rooted cuttings are the same age as the mother they came from, so they are mature enough to flower immediately.

Seed plants should be allowed to mature before flowering, which is indicated by nodes switching from opposite to alternate, but indoor growers usually can't do this. It takes too long, and the plants get too big. You would have to use dramatic pruning to keep it a manageable size, and most new growers aren't up to that.

SO ... you end up flowering before the seed plant is fully mature and it takes longer to induce so it stretches for even longer and gets even taller and pretty soon it outgrows the entire building....

So the experienced grower would raise the seedling, and while she's growing up take a cutting and sex it to make sure she's a she, and then use the seed plant to provide cuttings to grow in the Aerogarden.
