Check Out this Thread. 2nd pages about half way down. Bud rot/mold and the damage done by mealy bugs looks very much the same.
If you think you got some really inspect your bud. A bud may look fine from the outside but on the inside it may be rotten and dying off and you wouldn't even know it.
If you see brown dying leaves that are shriveling up, open the bud up where the stem of that leaf is and begin looking for brown bud spots.
Basically, healthy buds are green and crystally. Bud rot will look like brown/damp bud that degrading. Has a pretty unique smell. Smells like bud but icky wet bud.
