I agree you can grow in rockwool with excellent results. Keep in mind you should adjust your PH when using Rockwool. Ive done just what your considering, I grew it just like hydro using hydroponic nutes and adjusting the PH. I basically works just as well as any other hydro setup. Currently I prefer to usie soil or bubbleponics.
