Drugs have been illegal since I've been alive, I'm 66, they've become more and more illegal every year that I can remember. I thought it was bad under Nixon, He basically unleashed the "War" on drugs. I remember going to mexico to party in the '70's and just leaving the drugs in the car someplace out of sight and no worries, of course you only wanted to take enough so you'd not have to try and bring any back. One time, about 70 miles south of the border on a little 2 lane blacktop, our caravan of 6 cars was stopped by the federales. I was driving the drug car, I had everyones drugs in the trunk, a few oz's of pot, some LSD, some mescaline, etc. The car was a narc looking 4 door plymouth, just like the cop cars of the era. When I got to the road block I thought well this is it, I'm goin for 20 in a mexican prison, the feds just waved me through and stopped the next 5 and searched them. I pulled up the road a couple a hundred yards and pulled off and got out to observe. they of course found nothing as I had all the drugs. Finally one of the feds pulled out a full bag of weed and reached into my buddies VW van and pulled it out and tried to accuse him of possession, My buddie was a Jesus freak and didn't do any drugs at all, unlike the rest of us, he became irate and told the fed "thats yours, I saw you put it there." The fed said yes but it could be yours, and with that we were let go on our way. I'm pretty sure they knew I was the drug carrier and just wanted to fuck with our heads. I'll say this, when I saw the roadblock, my ass was surely puckering.
